MEET THE INSTRUCTORS

Harrison Bernstein is the founder and Executive Director of Soldiers To Sidelines (STS), a non-profit organization that helps the military community become character-based sports coaches in their communities. After resigning from coaching professional football, he dedicated himself fully to the STS mission. Harrison has coached football and sports performance at the NFL, NCAA Division I, II, III, and high school levels. He taught in the master's program of Exercise Science at George Washington University for seven years. A graduate of Johns Hopkins University with a BA in Economics, he was captain of the football team, earned All-American honors for three years, and was named Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 1997. He authored "The Everyday Coach: Harnessing the Magic of Influence," providing it free to STS Soldier Coaches and donating all profits to STS. Harrison lives in Lewes, DE, with his wife, Laura Olendeski, and their son, Keturi Bernstein.

Nate Palin specializes in physical, mental, and emotional resilience for both the front lines and the home front. He is currently employed as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist for the United States Space Force. He also coaches warfighters as the Founder of Any Given Day and serves as the Endurance Sports Director for Soldiers to Sidelines. Nate served as a leader in the 2nd Ranger Battalion for seven years prior to his transition to strength and conditioning. Over the course of five combat deployments in support of Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom, Nate experienced the military’s performance shortcomings firsthand and observed the need for enhanced physical training to better support mission critical tasks. He began his coaching career in 2010 as owner of The Movement Project, then narrowed his focus to the tactical sector as a performance specialist for EXOS in Washington, DC in 2012. Nate coached Special Operations Forces at Joint Base Lewis-McChord from 2015 to 2018 before leading the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s (NSCA) Tactical program, where he co-authored Preparing for the Army Combat Fitness Test for Human Kinetics. Nate was an adjunct professor for CalUPenn’s graduate program in tactical strength and conditioning and briefly served as Director of Education for the FitOps Foundation before he collaboratively launched The Initiative in 2021 and independently launched Any Given Day in 2022.
